HPI Savage XL Octane News 2014

HPI Racing are teasing us with the newly released video of the Savage XL Octane for the Nuremberg Toy Fair 2014. As ever HPI are staying tight lipped and not giving much away concerning the release of this petrol 1/8^th scale truck. Giving that they have released the video we anticipate that things are finally starting to come together for this model, will it be released before Christmas 2014? here's hoping! We'll be visiting HPI again in a matter of weeks and we'll be grilling them on any new info concerning the release of the Savage Octane. Stay tuned, as we'll keep you guys updated.

Latest HPI Savage XL Octane News

HPI Racing fans have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the revolutionary petrol Savage Octane, over the last few years speculation has grew to anticipation on the launch date, our last visit to HPI Europe's headquarters back in March, we viewed the prototype and was assured the model was soon to hit the market. Unfortunately weeks have gradually turned to months and no news has been forthcoming.

Today after another visit to HPI Europe we have finally been given some concrete news. Unfortunately much to their regret the Savage Octane will not be available this year and is undergoing more development. Although they are staying pretty tight lipped on the situation it is clear that they will not release a new model on the market until it has undergone vigorous testing and meets with their high standards, which to be fair, is better for everyone in the long term.

Whether the Savage Octane will ever make it to market is now to be questioned, we've heard a variety of reasons for the delays but never any official statement. It is definitely disappointing as this model has received so much hype in anticipation of its launch. Whatever the outcome, as ever we will keep you updated with any news relating to the Octane.

Rallying is the ultimate test of a road car, pushing it beyond its limits, and by starting with drivetrain from the Bullet 3.0 nitro-powered truck, or designers had the perfect starting point to make an all-new HPI rally car! By making improvements to the suspension and wheelbase, the WR8 3.0 chassis was born! The WR8 keeps the tough bevel gear differentials, 4WD shaft drivetrain, twin disc brakes and fully ball bearing-supported drivetrain of the Bullet nitro truck, but adds a new Nitro Star G3.0 High Output engine, racing-style clutch, new suspension geometry, thick sway bars, plus scale gravel tyres and wheels to make it a real rally contender!

To make it a complete scale package, our bodyshell designers got to work replicating the 2011 Ford Fiesta RS WRC used by the Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team, the offical Ford works rally team.
